The Bluffs calls on community to help ‘Paint the Town Green’
Support is essential in these tough times, and in an effort to demonstrate we are all in the fight against COVID-19, The Bluffs Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center wants to paint the town green.
“We are asking that everyone join us in wearing green on Friday to show unity and positivity in these difficult times,” The Bluffs activity coordinator Amie Vinson said. “Green is the color of for healing and we just want the world to know we are working on healing and getting better.”
Vinson said the Bluffs’ corporate ownership came up with the idea initially to boost the morale of employees. The Bluffs Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center is part of Nexion Health, Inc., which has facilities around the country.
“They send out stuff to us to kind of keep us going here in health care because it is so different these days,” she said.
However, instead of just the employees of the companies wearing green, Vinson said, she wanted to take the idea one step further and challenge the community to wear green.
Challenging the community to wear green, Vinson said, just seemed like a fun way to show support “in kicking COVID’s butt.”
In addition to bringing attention to the fight against COVID-19, Vinson said, she hopes wearing green will serve as a symbol of support to all the people that have been affected by the pandemic in “every way, shape or form.
“Whether that is losing someone you love or stuck with a mask on your face for 20,000 days,” she said.
For all those who help paint the town green, Vinson is asking them to post pictures on The Bluffs Facebook page.
“COVID has had a huge impact on all of us here in our company and we know people in the community and other professions have also been affected in the same way,” Vinson said.
