Positive COVID-19 trends continue for Warren County

Warren County continued to see a positive trend as the Mississippi State Department of Health released its daily update on the COVID-19 pandemic Tuesday.

The latest report showed no new COVID-19 cases in Warren County, bringing the number of estimated active cases to its lowest point since June 21. Currently, it is estimated the county has 64 active cases as of Tuesday.

The lack of new cases also pushed the one week and two week daily averages to their lowest points since mid-June. Over the past seven days, Warren County has seen 7.7 new cases per day. Over the past two weeks, the average has been slightly higher at 7.9 cases per day.

As for the state, Tuesday’s report showed 634 new cases and 20 new deaths statewide. Since the first case was reported in Mississippi on March 11, the state has reported 83,584 cases and 2,493 virus-related deaths.

The first case in Warren County was reported on March 29 and since that first case, the county has reported 1,314 cases and 46 virus-related deaths.

Claiborne County, which has also seen a significant slow down in the number of new cases, reported 440 total cases and 16 deaths Tuesday. Yazoo County now has 958 cases and 21 deaths.

Sharkey County reported 251 cases and eight deaths Tuesday, while Issaquena County reported 98 cases and three deaths.
