Letter to the editor: Thanks to those who helped make Ritz on the River successful

Dear editor,

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the many organizations and individuals that supported the 7th annual Ritz on the River Disco Ball. The Phunky Monkeys really shined the whole night entertaining the crowd with their special disco flair.  The dance floor showcased with the many attendees decked out in their disco garb really made the night extra special.

In a time of a pandemic, regulations and protocols, the attendees came together to have fun despite the dark cloud that has been looming for the past seven months. With a portion of the proceeds going to Good Shepherd Community Center, it really brought home the whole meaning of how our city is far above others. The participation of the attendees responding to the theme of the evening was heartwarming and really shows the togetherness of our amazing city.

We would like to give praise to the numerous sponsors, volunteers, and attendees who made this event such a groovy night.

Ritz on the River sponsors include Mutual Credit Union, Casino Vicksburg, Ergon,  RiverHills Bank, Vicksburg Convalescent Center, Waterview Casino, City of Vicksburg/Board of Mayor & Aldermen, VenuWorks, Visit Vicksburg, Candlewood Suites, Guaranty Bank & Trust Company, Helping Hand Family Pharmacy, International Paper, May & Company, Riverwalk Casino, Trustmark National Bank, Varner, Parker & Sessums, Vicksburg Insurance Agency and The Vicksburg Post.

The many community volunteers that were willing to give of their time to assist in helping the event run smoothly include Carolyn Allen, Melanie Allen, Michael DeJesus, Tiffiney DeJesus, Laura Jones, Becky King, Alesia Shaw, Ritch Southard, Travis Williams and the Good Shepherd team.

We would also like to thank The Ivy Place for the beautiful décor and the Good Shepherd children for assisting in the “special touch” that made the evening that much more perfect.

Ritz on the River was an amazing night and we look forward to hosting it again in 2021.
